Llorona, Or the Weeping Women

A modern re-telling of the Mexican myth of la Llorona; Follow Lorena Ines Sanchez-Rosalba as she falls into her fate. She falls in love with disconnected third generation Logan Aguilar, follows him across the border, only to fall into one of the United States most dangerous inhumane hands: ICE. A play that questions the burdens of guilt, the failures of immigration and policy, and what it takes to come to terms with the pain of a Latina woman, the play is a beautiful drama that is sure to captivate audiences with Tovar-Borghini’s writing alongside direction by Shai Vaknine. Featuring performances by some Boston staples and fresh faces, the play is led by Annika Bolton in the title role of Lorena and Thomas Vice playing opposite her as Logan.

The Hills of California

Internationally renowned Olivier and Tony Award–winning playwright Jez Butterworth (The Ferryman, Jerusalem) weaves the compelling, tender, and savagely funny tale of the four adult Webb sisters’ homecoming to the seaside guest house where they grew up. As girls, their fierce and ambitious mother Veronica trained them for a singing career à la The Andrews Sisters. Now adults, the sisters must reconsider the choices their mother made, the nostalgic call of youthful harmonies, and the unbreakable bonds of family. Critically acclaimed on Broadway and the West End, The Hills of California will be seen in a new production at The Huntington, directed by Loretta Greco
